There are 3 steps to creating a notification:
Start under the “Outreach Tab” click the “Create Notification” button
Step 1: Creating the Notifications
You will be met with a series of tasks such as uploading the CSV file, creating the name of the notification, and writing the message body.
Edit and upload CSV file
There are currently two upload options:
- Drag and drop file
- Select file
Create the name of the notification
Before selecting the name and label, it is best practice to determine the campaign strategy.
Exp. Name, Intention, and response monitoring, etc.
Write the Notification
In this section, you can write the body of the text notification to notify your customers.
- As stated above, you may reference a column in the CSV by leading with the $ symbol.
To end Step 1 you click "Next" to reach the next step of the process
Step 2: Determine if you want to schedule the notification
This gives you the option to schedule the notification for a future time or to create the notification now.
Options:
Schedule at Specific Time
- Choose the date/ time the notification will begin sending
- Including the timezone
Create Notification Now
- If the you choose to "create the notification now" the notification would be able to send as soon as validation is completed
- Note that you will be notified once the validation is done with a UI symbol on the Outreach tab
Note that if you choose to "create the notification now" you would not be able to set the Message Rate.
Step 3: Message Rate - Only applies to scheduled Messages
Once you have set the date/time they would like the notification to go out you will have the option to set the message rate.
Options:
Set Hourly Message Rate
- The number of messages that can be sent per hour
- Note that messages will only be sent between 9:00 AM and 8:00 PM in the destination time zone. Message sending will pause outside of these hours and will resume the following day.
Send in Full
- If you choose to send the notification "in full" the message will be sent to all the recipients in the CSV at the scheduled send time
After Outreach Message is Created
By clicking "Create Now," this will begin validating the information and preparing the notification for sending.
Validating CSV
During this step, the system will verify each phone number provided to determine if it is a mobile, landline or VoIP. If it is not mobile, it will be marked accordingly in the Error Report file accessible via the Actions menu.
All mobile numbers are verified the first time through a carrier lookup. Once the number is in Marley, the system will use that as the source of truth for the lookup.
Once the notification is created, the status will read “Validating”
If there is an issue with the validation, the status will change to “CSV invalid format”
Send Notification:
Scheduled
Post Validation
- Once done validating, the status will automatically change to "Scheduled" with the date/time.
- If the notification has been scheduled, there are no additional actions to take
- The notification will be sent out automatically at the scheduled date/time
Unscheduled
Post validation
Once it has been validated, the notification will change its status in green to “Ready To Send.” You can click that "Ready to Send" status to send the notification.
Both Scheduled and Unscheduled Messages
Post Sending
Once the notification has been sent, the status will be marked “Delivered”. Although the notification is marked "Delivered" there may be errors while sending a mass note to specific people. To ensure it was sent out correctly, check the "Error Report" under the "Actions" dropdown for any issues.
Messages cannot be recalled once sent out
Note- You will be notified at each stage of the sending process with a notification on the "Outreach" tab.
