Deploying Hi Marley Connect Using SCCM (System Center Configuration Manager)

Introduction

This guide outlines the steps to deploy the Hi Marley Connect Extension using System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) (now known as Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager - MECM). This guide serves as a recommendation that IT teams can follow, but actual deployments may vary based on specific organizational requirements, browser versions, and system configurations. Carriers may encounter differences depending on their infrastructure and software versions. Please validate configurations against your internal policies and test before full deployment. Before deployment, validate that SCCM is active and installed on target devices. Ensure you have full administrator access and devices are assigned to an SCCM Device Collection for deployment.

Step 1. Create a New Configuration Item

  1. Open the Configuration Management Console
  2. Navigate to the Assets and Compliance Workspace 
  3. Select Create a New Configuration Item
    • Create a meaningful name (i.e. Hi Marley Connect Extension Deployment)
  4. Select Next
  5. Select the Appropriate Platforms from the list (e.g., Windows 7, Windows 10, Windows 11)
  6. Select Next
  7. Create a new Settings Configuration
    • Select New
  8. Fill out the settings configuration as follows:
    • Name: ExtensionInstallForcelist
    • Description: Hi Marley Connect Extension
    • Value name: 1 (This value is unique to your configuration. If installing an additional extension, use 2, then 3, etc.)
  9. Select the Compliance Rules tab
    • Select New
  10. Fill out the Compliance Rule as follows:
    • Name: Hi Marley Connect Extension Compliance Rule
    • Description: Hi Marley Connect Extension
    • Value: fhfkeleccjlphiaaohenmkedecmfiefg;https://clients2.google.com/service/update2/crx
    • Tick both 'Remediate noncompliant rules when supported' and 'Report noncompliance if this setting instance is not found'
  11. Select OK  and finish the Create Configuration Item Wizard

Step 2. Create Configuration Baseline 

  1. Create a new Configuration Baseline in the Configuration Manager console, in the Asset and Compliance workspace 
  2. Create a meaningful subtitle name and select Add > Configuration Item
  3. Select OK at the bottom of the console 
  4. Select the newly created Configuration Item from the list, then select OK
  5. Optionally, add a description and select OK

Step 3. Deployment

  1. The Configuration Baseline containing the new Configuration Item must be deployed
    • Ensure to tick the Remediate Noncompliant Rules When Supported
  2. Specify how often the compliance should be evaluated
    • You can either configure a simple schedule (Run Every X Days) OR create a Custom Schedule
  3. Select OK at the bottom of the console

Post-Deployment Validation

  1. After the SSCM client has updated machine policies and the configuration baseline has run, Hi Marley Connect will begin being installed automatically 
  2. Ensure, on targeted workstations, there is no option to remove or disable the extension
  3. Review Compliance Reports to confirm successful deployments and remediation
