How can customers access the media?
What happens if a participant clicks on a link after expiration (1 week)?
Introduction
Hi Marley uses SMS/MMS texting to send messages back and forth to your end users. Just like regular messages, you can send any media or attachments to your customers via Hi Marley.
Media Types & File Sizes
Typically, sending media over SMS/MMS has some limitations. However Hi Marley leverages contextual URL links to ensure you can send any media type outbound as needed, including photos, videos, PDFs, docs, spreadsheets, etc. We have set our file size limit to 25MB for all file types.
We Support the Following File Types:
- Image/png
- Image/jpeg
- Image/gif
- Video/mp4
- Audio/mp4
- Text/vcard
- Application/PDF
- Microsoft Word/docx
- Excel/xlsx
If a file is uploaded that is too large or not supported, the user will receive a pop-up to notify them.
Outbound media is stored in the cloud with a temporary URL link generated for it that is sent via SMS to the participants. This prevents any issues with cell carriers that have limits on the size of media sent via SMS.
How to send Outbound Media?
In the message field,
- Click the paperclip icon - this prompts the file dialog to open.
- Select file and click Open.
- The file will be uploaded to the cloud and a temporary link generated. A message will dynamically appear in the outbound message pane with the link and a note about expiration.
Example:

Enhanced Security
To help protect your customers and your organization, Hi Marley now automatically scans all files you send through outbound media for potential threats like viruses or malware.
This added layer of protection works behind the scenes—there’s no change to how you upload or send files. If a file is flagged during the scan, you’ll see an error message and can try again with a different file.
What this means for you:
- 📁 You can continue sending images, documents, and other media as usual
- 🛡️ Customers are protected from potentially harmful files
- ✅ All media links remain secure and accessible for 7 days
We’re committed to helping you communicate confidently and securely—no extra steps required.
